A HISTORICAL LOOK
Growing up in an impoverished neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida, survival was the name of the game. Families improvised and did whatever they could to get by. For many years, Reggie’s parents ran an “after hours joint” in back of the family home and became infamous suppliers of bootlegged whiskey. As a child, like a moth to a light bulb, Reggie couldn’t stay away from the music. “Little Reggie” would sneak in the joint and sing along with the juke box for a nickel per song. He learned every 45 on the box, from Otis Redding to Billie Holiday. As his voice deepened, so did his repertoire. He sang anywhere he could, including church.
Eventually music took Reggie across the United States and then across the Atlantic Ocean. As an expatriate living in the Czech Republic, the Reginald Pinckney Trio toured throughout Eastern Europe. Now living in Seattle, Washington, the Reginald Pinckney Quartet performs within the city and surrounding areas, while occasionally providing cruise ship entertainment!
Reggie has just released his first studio recording, “First Path”.
